It’s strange how a single moment can quietly change everything. For me, it wasn’t a lightning bolt—it was a fog. A brain fog so thick, I found myself wondering if dementia was contagious after a stressful trip helping my parents. That unsettling experience—the loss of memory for daily tasks and even past events—was a jarring wake-up call.

It wasn’t just about needing a quick reset anymore. It was a profound realization that something fundamental had to change in how I cared for myself—starting with what was on my plate.

A Personal Remix

That chapter of my life, grappling with my own memory issues and witnessing my parents’ journey with dementia, became the catalyst for what I now call my Remixology journey. This wasn’t a diet—not in the restrictive, joyless sense. It was a decision to completely remix how I approached food.

I started tracking what I ate, not obsessively, but with intention. I removed sugar and grains—not as punishment, but as an experiment. I wanted to know: could food alone—no workouts, no supplements—reset my body and mind?

The Beautiful Results

The results were astounding. Within six months, I’d lost 32 pounds. But more importantly, a clarity emerged. My digestion improved. My energy came back. My mood stabilized. Even my skin and sleep transformed.

It was a revelation: health begins not at the gym or the pharmacy, but at our fingertips—with the choices we make before food even touches our lips.

My lifelong love of cooking—baking cookies with my mom from her Joy of Cooking, savoring textures and flavors—took on a new dimension. It was still about oil, flour, and sugar… but now I was looking at every ingredient through a new lens.

I realized this wasn’t just a personal transformation—it was a method that could help anyone. The remix approach works because it’s flexible. It meets you where you are and nudges you toward where you want to be.
