Pickled Red Onions
Tangy, vibrant pickled red onions in a flash. Perfect for topping tacos, adding zing to salads, or brightening up sandwiches.
1 large red onion
½ cup white wine vinegar
¼ cup water
2 tsp. sugar
1tsp. Diamond Crystal® Kosher Salt
Step 1
Slice the red onion thinly.
Step 2
Place the sliced red onion in a wide mouth glass jar.
Step 3
In a separate bowl, combine the white wine vinegar, water, sugar, and salt. Stir until the sugar and salt are dissolved.
Step 4
Pour the liquid mixture over the red onions in the jar.
Step 5
Press the onions down gently to ensure they are submerged in the liquid.
Step 6
Seal the jar with a lid.
Step 7
Store in the fridge for at least 30 minutes before using. The pickled onions will become more flavorful over time.
Notes:
Pickled red onions can be stored in the fridge for up to a week.
