Good To Know

Organic Priority: Use organic citrus and herbs when possible since you’re using the peels and leaves that may contain pesticide residues. Infusion Time: Minimum 2 hours for light flavor, 4-6 hours for stronger taste, or overnight for maximum flavor extraction. Muddling Technique: Gently muddle herbs and soft fruits to release oils and flavors without creating bitter compounds from over-crushing. Water Quality: Filtered water makes a significant difference in taste – avoid tap water with strong chlorine flavors. Storage Strategy: Keeps 2-3 days refrigerated but remove herbs after 24 hours to prevent bitter flavors from developing. Serving Temperature: Serve ice-cold for most refreshing experience, or room temperature for maximum flavor perception. Glass Container Best: Use glass pitchers or jars to avoid plastic flavors and allow ingredients to be visible for visual appeal.

steps

Prep:

Wash all organic fruits and herbs thoroughly. Slice lemon and lime into thin rounds, removing any seeds. Gently bruise mint leaves by clapping between hands.

Layer:

In large glass pitcher or jar, layer lemon slices, lime slices, and mint leaves. If using honey, add it now for better dissolving.

Muddle:

Using muddler or wooden spoon, gently press ingredients 3-4 times to release oils and juices. Don’t over-muddle or flavors become bitter.

Fill:

Pour filtered water over ingredients, filling pitcher completely. Add sea salt if using and stir gently to dissolve.

Infuse:

Refrigerate for minimum 2 hours, up to overnight for strongest flavor. The longer it sits, the more intense the taste becomes.

Serve:

Fill glasses with ice and pour infused water, including some fruit pieces for visual appeal. Garnish with fresh mint sprig.

Refresh:

Refill pitcher with fresh water 1-2 times using same ingredients. Remove herbs after 24 hours to prevent bitter flavors developing.
