Ingredients

For Spirit Base:
1/2 oz (15ml) premium vodka
1/2 oz (15ml) London dry gin
1/2 oz (15ml) white rum
1/2 oz (15ml) silver tequila
1/2 oz (15ml) orange liqueur (Cointreau or Grand Marnier)

For Mix:
1 oz (30ml) fresh lemon juice
1 tbsp (20g) raw honey or pure maple syrup
3-4 oz (90-120ml) natural cola or craft cola
Fresh ice cubes

For Garnish:
Lemon wheel
Fresh mint sprig (optional)
Cocktail straw

Steps

Combine:

Add vodka, gin, rum, tequila, orange liqueur, fresh lemon juice, and honey to cocktail shaker. Ensure honey is at room temperature for easier mixing.

Shake:

Fill shaker with ice and shake vigorously for 15-20 seconds until honey dissolves completely and mixture is well-chilled with proper dilution.

Prepare:

Fill Collins or highball glass with fresh ice cubes, creating proper foundation for cocktail and maintaining cold temperature throughout drinking experience.

Strain:

Strain shaken mixture into prepared glass, leaving room at top for cola. Double-strain if desired for ultra-smooth texture without ice chips.

Top:

Slowly pour natural cola to fill glass, maintaining carbonation by pouring gently down side of glass. Leave small amount of headspace for proper presentation.

Stir:

Give cocktail one gentle stir with bar spoon to integrate cola without losing carbonation. Avoid over-mixing to preserve fizzy texture.

Garnish:

Add lemon wheel on rim or floating in drink, plus optional mint sprig for aromatic appeal. Serve immediately with cocktail straw for best experience.

Make it Good For The Gut (Optional)

Replace regular cola with kombucha cola for beneficial probiotics and reduced sugar content that supports digestive health. Add 1/4 teaspoon fresh grated ginger to the mix for digestive enzymes and natural anti-inflammatory properties. Use raw honey with propolis for antimicrobial benefits and natural enzymes that support immune function. Include 1 tablespoon coconut water for natural electrolytes and potassium that aids hydration. Consider adding a splash of apple cider vinegar with mother for additional probiotics and enhanced flavor complexity that balances sweetness.

Remix Options

Sweetener Alternatives: Try agave nectar for tequila harmony, coconut sugar for tropical notes, or stevia for sugar-free option with intense sweetness. Cola Variations: Use craft cola for artisanal flavor, diet cola for lower calories, or ginger beer for spicy kick and digestive benefits. Citrus Options: Substitute lime juice for Mexican twist, grapefruit juice for bitter complexity, or orange juice for sweeter profile and vitamin C boost. Premium Upgrades: Use top-shelf spirits for smoother taste, artisanal orange liqueur for depth, or small-batch craft spirits for unique flavor profiles. Seasonal Variations: Add cranberry juice for winter holidays, watermelon juice for summer refreshment, or pomegranate juice for antioxidant boost. Lower Alcohol Version: Reduce each spirit to 1/4 oz for lighter cocktail, or use half spirits and half tea for authentic iced tea appearance. Batch Preparation: Multiply recipe by 8 for pitcher service, pre-mix spirits and citrus, add cola just before serving for optimal carbonation.

Good To Know

Spirit Quality Matters: Use premium spirits for smoothest taste as cheap alcohol creates harsh, burning sensation that overwhelms the cocktail’s balance. Alcohol Content Warning: This cocktail contains approximately 2.5 oz of alcohol – equivalent to 2-3 standard drinks despite tasting deceptively mild. Shaking Technique: Shake vigorously with ice to properly dissolve honey and chill ingredients while creating proper dilution for smooth drinking. Ice Importance: Use fresh, clean ice cubes to prevent off-flavors and ensure proper chilling without excessive dilution that weakens the cocktail. Cola Selection: Natural cola brands provide cleaner flavor without high fructose corn syrup and artificial additives found in mainstream sodas. Glassware Choice: Collins or highball glass provides proper volume and showcases the cocktail’s attractive amber color that resembles iced tea. Serving Temperature: Serve immediately while cold for best taste and carbonation – warm Long Island loses appeal and proper texture. Responsible Consumption: Limit to one per person due to high alcohol content; provide food and water to guests for safe enjoyment. Storage Notes: Cannot be pre-made due to carbonation; mix spirits and citrus ahead but add cola just before serving for best results.
